Theatre Open Day: Sunday 15 September

The ATC, BSS, ECC and the ITG invite all to our ‘Theatre Open Day’ featuring short performances in the Studio throughout the day as well as presentations on set design, props and stage management, costumes and make-up. Homemade cakes and sandwiches will be on sale, and there will be a cash bar. Get involved by either just coming along for the fun, or helping us run the event. And don’t forget to bring family, friends, colleagues and neighbours!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to help spruce up and decorate the Warehouse, make cakes and sandwiches, staff the bar, staff the info stand, act as welcomers (probably in theatre costume)…

When: September 15 from 2pm-6pm

Come see a Double Billing of Prize-Winning Shows: Saturday 31 August

We are kicking off the season with “27 Wagons Full of Cotton” by Tennessee Williams and directed by Conrad Toft (ATC), which won First Prize at FEATS in May, along with “For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls” by Christopher Durang and directed by Valerie Doyle (The Hamburg Players), which won Second Prize at FEATS.

“27 Wagons Full of Cotton” follows the story of a cotton gin owner, Jake Meighan (Andy Blumenthal), and his young wife, Flora (Peyton Cimino). When there is a fire in the neighbouring plantation, suspicion falls on Jake and the plantation superintendent, Silva Vicarro (Gareth Lewis), comes looking for his own special brand of vengeance…

“For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls” (or The Further Adventures of Amanda and her Children) is Christopher Durang’s affectionate parody of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie and features the dysfunctional Wingvalley family. Meet Amanda, a fading southern belle, and her two sons – Lawrence, a stay-at-home hypochondriac, and Tom, who escapes to the movies as much as he can. And then there is Ginny – a feminine caller paying a visit to the Wingvalley household. Amanda tries to face everything with charm and vivacity but sometimes she just wants to hit somebody.
